BLUE DIRT BLOWOUT 2018
Rachel and I shot up to Mount Buller early Saturday morning for the Blue dirt mountain biking end of season session - the Blue Dirt Blowout. I'm speechless! Such a rad weekend with a great crew. Located roughly 3hrs east of Melbourne, Mount Buller is fast becoming a mountain biking Mecca, with a lot of the progression at the resort spear headed by Shannon Rademaker from All Terrain Cycles.
If you haven't yet been to a Blue Dirt weekend - do yourself a favour and put it on the calendar. The guys have done a great job building a business around getting people like you and I up the top of some seriously ace terrain. You can book with Blue dirt on their website - www.bluedirt.com.
A day's shuttles will set you back $60 or $110 for two days. Most riding locations have some great camping nearby - in particular for Mt Buller you can camp at the base.
However, being so late in the season Rachel and I stayed at the Kandahar Lodge on beehive lane (for the sake of shelter as rain and potential snow is a threat this time of year) - a short walk to the Coffee garage and super close to the drop in point about 1/5th down Copperhead - one of Mt Ballers intermediate gravity trails. You can generally find rooms at Kandahar Lodge on Booking.com - by memory we paid less than $100 per night - it's worth it to be so close to the trails and a spot to watch the sunsets over Howqua gap.
I didn't stop to take too many photos but here are the few that I did!
